The Campus ReUnion Concert 2009 held on Saturday 21 March at Jubilee Hall was a huge success. A near capacity crowd of 320 fans, families, relatives and friends attended the concert.

Among them were several prominent local music teachers, movie director Kelvin Sng, actresses Evangeline Long, Cherie Lee, Yong Kexin, Singapore idol finalists Jasmine Tye, Levin Ng and some Campus SuperStar 3 finalists including Jarod Lee, Rachel Lim, Chua Ai Jia and Joselin Ng. There were also several talent scouts present in the audience.

The Campus ReUnion Concert 2009 is the long awaited concert reuniting finalists from the television singing competition Campus SuperStar (CSS) season 1 (2006) and season 2 (2007). It featured 10 CSS finalists Keely Wee, Geraldine See, YY Chen Yi Yuan, Seah Hui Xian, Joanna Teo, Agnes Low, He Guo Hao, Javin They, Wan Choon Keat and Ngeow Zi Jie.

The hosts for the evening were Actor/Host Louis Wu Luo Yi and newcomer Tiyo Shi Ru.

The concert began promptly at 8pm. The Opening Dance was presented by the CJ Dance Crew from Celine Jessandra School of Performing Arts. This was followed by the 10 performing artistes each presenting a song, starting with YY Chen Yi Yuan singing in Cantonese for his rendition of Jacky Cheung’s classic “李香蘭”. Keely Wee was next singing S.H.E.’s “Boom” in a sexy outfit complete with a chair dance. The first segment, generously sponsored by Converse, ended with Javin They who went on stage to explain that doctors have forbade him to sing as he had developed “singer’s nodes” on his vocal chords. Although disappointed, Javin continued to participate in the concert to give moral support to his fellow performers.

After a 10-minute interval, the audience was pleasantly surprised by the transformation of the stage and the revelation of the Campus ReUnion Live Band led by Music Director Amos Ang.

This second half of the concert saw many collaborations among the performers including a duet in Korean by Keely Wee & YY Chen Yi Yuan, Singapore’s very own S.H.E. featuring Seah Hui Xian, Agnes Low and Joanna Teo singing “安靜了” and the Four Divas (Keely Wee, Geraldine See, Agnes Low and Joanna Teo) singing“新不了情” all dressed up in fabulous gowns and Geraldine in formal shirt and vest. YY Chen Yi Yuan also showed off his nifty footwork when he danced with the dancers during rendition of the newly re-arranged popular old song “蘭花草”.

After the finale song, the audience refused to leave and this prompted the artistes to present a 3-song encore. Following the end of the concert, there was an autograph session where fans and friends alike jostled to have their posters and handbills signed.

Jasmine Tye, 2^nd-runner up of Singapore Idol 2006, commented after the concert:
"YY Chen Yi Yuan, I think he did very well for the campus reunion concert. Compared to when he first started singing in the competition, I think he’s grown tremendously and his star quality has shot up by leaps and bounds. His performance left a very, very deep impression on me and I can see how much effort he’s put in. I was super impressed.”

The Campus ReUnion Concert 2009 was organized by G W Agency and generously supported by Converse, Kbox, Celine Jessandra School of Performing Arts, Boon Musical Instrument Centre and Edmund’s Cafe. Hairdressing was provided by Jeric Salon Central, makeup was provided by Makeup Shop n Studio and technical production was handled by PMC Solution.
