Nee Soon South CCC, a division under the Ang Mo Kio GRC, organised the NSS Countdown09, a large-scale one-night-only concert held at the open field opposite Khatib MRT station.

2008 was a special year for Nee Soon South, as the division celebrated its 20^th Anniversary, an excellent testament of successful government- grassroots collaboration. NSS Countdown09 served as a platform for Singaporeans from all walks of life to bond. Through the concert, families got together to create a memorable experience as they crossed over to 2009 together, in style.

GW Agency was appointed to plan and execute the one of the largest countdown parties in Singapore last year. A star-studded line-up of both local and international celebrities performed during the concert.

They included Will Liu Geng Hong, one of the stars featured in movies Kung Fu Dunk and Initial D opposite good friend Jay Chou, Malaysian singing sensation Wu Jia Hui who brought you the hit songs from movies such as 881 and 12 Lotus, local evergreen veteran Qing Huai, Khairul Anuar winner of Anugerah 2005, Jasmine Tye 2nd runner-up of Singapore Idol 2006, Ng Chee Yang overall champion of Campus Superstar and many many more.

Hosts for the evening were Radio 1003 DJ JianWen and Radio DJ Idol Matthew Liu.

The NSS Countdown09 Concert was very successful, attracting an audience of close to 10,000 people. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong also graced the occasion as the Guest-of-Honour, and joined the singers on stage in bidding farewell to 2008 by singing the traditional Auld Lang Syne before he wished all Singaporeans a Happy New Year.
